The Greater Woodstock Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) holds this meeting as part of the Small Business Awards Dinner. An update is given of the years activities as well as the upcoming events especially Woodstock’s Festival of Lights Christmas Celebration.


Annual General Meeting
The Greater Woodstock Chamber Of Commerce holds their Annual General Meeting in March of every year. Members and nonmembers are invited hear a topical presentation from a recognized speaker. The President gives a report on the organization’s activities . A new slate of directors and officers are elected each year.


Canada Day
The Greater Woodstock Chamber Of Commerce has established an ongoing partnership with the Town of Woodstock .The two groups work together with interested community partners to prepare and organize the Canada Day Celebrations. These include activities for children and families with food and fun.


Small Business Week
Small Business Week is the third week in October. Small Business Week pays tribute to the contributions that small and medium –sized businesses make to the national economy and help strengthen it. Small Businesses drive innovation, create jobs and increase competitiveness. This special week is a way to recognize these business owners and thank them for the work they do in their business and through out the community.

The Greater Woodstock Chamber of Commerce in partnership with CBDC Women in Business recognizes 2 Small Businesses Owners and a Woman in Business Owner for their success in business growth and community support. They are honored at the awards dinner with family, friends and other chamber members.


Business Awards Dinner
The GWCC in partnership with Enterprise Carleton and the Province of New Brunswick, recognize a female entrepreneur of the year.  The Female Entrepreneur of the year in 2009 was Sarah MacPherson. The GWCC also recognizes area business owners for their success in business growth and community support. Scott Dunlop of Home Zone Electronics and Larry and Dale Currie of Curries Ace Hardware and Curries Electronics were both recognized for their success in 2009.  This event was held on October 21st in 2009 and will be held again in conjunction with the Small Business Week celebrations in the fall of 2010.


WOODSTOCK’S FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
The GWCC organizes Woodstock’s Festival of Lights Christmas Celebrations each year. This promotion begins in mid November and continues throughout December until Christmas. The chamber and the community work together to discourage cross boarder shopping and encourage shop locally! The Chamber advertises community events during this festive season in two supplements that go out early November and early December.  Just give the Chamber a call  early at 325-9049 with your information so it can appear in the supplements.
